Insurance Claims Appraisal

When a home or business is damaged and the claim reaches an impasse, the appraisal process included in most commercial and residential insurance policies can serve as an alternative dispute resolution method to avoid litigation or at least resolve portions of the claim.

APPRAISAL — Generally, an insurance appraisal is considered a type of “alternative dispute resolution” insofar as it can help the parties avoid litigation.
Both the insurer and insured each hire an independent appraiser (at their own cost), who will meet to and reach agreement about the amount of loss. In the event these two appraisers are unable to reach agreement, a neutral party or “umpire” will be retained to resolve the disagreement in an informal setting. Umpires may be appraisers themselves or appointed by a court having jurisdiction.

Construction and negotiation expertise unites bringing you our team of appraisers who will best represent you and render timely and impartial decisions that promote an efficient and just process for all parties.

Understanding the power in the Appraisal Process

Because the decision is made by a panel, (two appraisers or three including the umpire), there is a higher probability of getting a fairer decision for your claim.

The Insurance Appraisal Process Explained

John Minor, CGC, CFM, explains how the appraisal process can quickly resolve disputed claims between property owners and insurance companies.

Selecting an Appraiser

Appraisal has been successfully and quietly resolving disputed losses for 150 years.  A Texas property insurance appraiser is a professional who steps in when a policyholder and an insurance company cannot agree on a property damage claim value. Our team of professionals draw upon their profound experience in addressing subtleties and complexities.
